Meet The Team

  • Hannah began her ceramics journey in 2019 after a decade in the fashion world, working for various brands including Vivienne Westwood. She fell in love with the playful, hands-on nature of clay and spent over four years in London as a studio technician and manager before moving back down to Brighton to join The Mud House team. Outside of studio work, Hannah creates colourful, chubby ceramics designed to bring a bit of joy to everyday life. She loves helping students find their flow with clay and draws on her background in personal styling to support them in developing their own unique pottery style.

  • Chelle likes to think her journey in clay started by spending her childhood in the garden, making mudpies and little pots out of cement her dad mixed whilst working on their home. It was in 2015 when she left college and attended an open studio that she learnt to make her very first pots on the wheel. Chelle has 9 years experience as a self taught potter, and has spent the last 2 years teaching in Brighton, alongside selling work in local art shops. Chelle’s recent work is heavily inspired by the Space Age era and 60s/70s glassware.

Chelle’s most favourite part of teaching is helping people immerse themselves in the subject of clay, guiding them to make the vision they have in mind, and seeing the experience as something to remember – it is an opportunity for future explorations and creativity.

Chelle finds importance in their own learning, spending a month in India at an Artist Residency, and attending workshops in Cambodia and Vietnam. Chelle decided to learn further and took the leap to study Ceramic Design at UAL, her current unit is “Skilling Up” working with plaster, surface design, throwing and mixing up glazes, all skills that Chelle can use as a tech at Mudhouse!

  • Ceramic Teacher and technician

Dani discovered pottery while searching for a hobby that could easily fit into her life, help her meet new people, balance family responsibilities, and provide a creative outlet from her advertising job.

Living in London, she found the perfect fit at an independent pottery studio, sparking a passion for ceramics. After taking a few courses and learning from talented potters in the studio, she became so captivated that she recently quit her job to pursue pottery full-time.

Now, having relocated to Chichester, Dani works as a studio technician at Romud and runs the open studio. Her favourite things to create are mugs, and she loves trimming pots! !

  • El discovered their passion for clay and plaster while studying 3D Design & Craft at the University of Brighton, where they spent most of their time on the plaster lathe or covered in slip. After graduating, they assisted various ceramic artists, including

Natasha Daintry, delivered retail commissions, and further developed their own artistic practice. Since then, they have accumulated 5 years of technician experience

in various large and medium-scale pottery studios.

Alongside their creative work, El embraces their love for organisation - and Microsoft

Excel to be specific! - by coordinating live events in the arts and crafts sector,

  • Founder, digger & tutor

Ros has had a passion for ceramics since her high school and university days, but it was a transformative 3-hour pottery wheel workshop in 2018 that truly ignited her love for the craft.

Initially, ceramics served as an escape from the digital world, providing a therapeutic outlet to unwind and create after long hours in commercial interior design. As a self-taught potter, Ros honed her skills by immersing herself in countless instructional videos and learning from fellow potters in communal studios.

Ros believes that ceramics is for everyone and is eager to share her knowledge and passion with others. Drawing inspiration from her background in architectural design, her creations celebrate the joy of food and the art of bringing people together. Some pieces are made from wild clays foraged from the UK, adding a unique touch to her work.
